the full pour
No self-respecting gueuze-head would come to Belgium and miss out on experiencing what a successful "start up" blendery looks like, right? Describing Tilquin that way certainly means no disrespect. Quite the contrary actually, as it's astonishing to remind ourselves that Tilquin hasn't even been around for 10 years just yet (est. 2009). So, comparatively speaking, Pierre's operation could potentially be viewed as an entity in somewhat of a burgeoning stage. Quite a sentiment to mull over, as you savor a sip of that exquisite Oude Mûre in your hand. When considering how short of a timespan it has actually been, it makes you wonder what he has in store for us in the years ahead.

why is this on THL?
A stop at Gueuzerie Tilquin is plum fruitful (see what I did there). The space is no-nonsense and has an "it's about the beer" youthful feel to it. For those of us that have spent countless hours hanging out in smaller operations, before they get too big, this is our natural habitat. How unique to combine that situation with an environment where exceptional lambic blending is taking place. To top it all off, it's situated in a picturesque setting and you can take in a little of the Belgian countryside while you're there. Speaking of which, due to the location, it's always good to have a designated driver for experiences like this one. Just don't draw that short straw! Truly a unique experience and Pierre is a gracious host. Go ahead, get the tee shirt.
