The full pour
If you look at the Himmeriget profile on Facebook, they bill themselves as a "dive bar." While there is evidence for where that line of thinking may be coming from, Himmeriget is that and so much more. Perhaps a third word could be added to the statement, creating "legit dive bar." Walking into Himmeriget could be compared to that of Toronado (any of them). You immediately know they aren't messing around after reviewing the tap and bottle list. Yes, realize that you've found one of those beer bars of greatness. The vibe is local and very laid back. The lighting is dim and there is a calming confidence that invites you to maximize your opportunities here.
Why is this on THL?
The beer options in Copenhagen are numerous, this we know. With Mikkeller continuing to open new concepts, it's getting harder to map out your Copenhagen game plan without feeling overwhelmed. Or maybe you're not overwhelmed, you've got this . . . it's certainly a good problem to have. Himmeriget is an indispensable stop for your Copenhagen expedition. If you still need another reason to make it up this way, notice that it folds nicely into a jaunt up to Koelschip and the greater Nørrebro area. Regardless of how you need to rationalize it, find a way to make the location work, it's that awesome. They have the rare, they have the latest and they exemplify everything one could ask for in a high quality beer experience.
