Oftentimes, finding standout purveyors of beery delights can be a research-oriented affair. But not everyone wants to spend countless hours looking at top 10 lists and sifting through forums on macro beer websites though. This is one reason The Hop Leaves was created, to filter that noise and help evangelize where you can quickly find the good stuff. There are times, however, when you stumble upon a gem of a spot just by "hoppenstance." This is exactly what happened when Kill The Cat presented itself on a recent stroll down London's famed Brick Lane, a Shoreditch street known for it's many curry houses. This little bottle shop is almost too good to be true. The owner takes great pride in providing a carefully-selected assortment of choices (100+), including three options on tap, with special emphasis on quality and diversification. All of this is presented with an amusing delivery style, right down to the dead cat logo and shallow basin built as a tasting table (complete with drain) in the back of the shop.
Why is this on THL?
Venturing out for a visit at Kill The Cat is highly encouraged, especially if you're staying near the trendy Shoreditch district. If you're not up on this particular area of London, you should know that there are many points of interest in the immediate vicinity. Those options include unique shopping, a strong diversity of food, urban street art exploration and (of course) interesting beer stops. Kill The Cat can easily be folded into these activities and may just become a major star of the show along the way. Once you've settled in, and have dropped your bags, this should be a serious consideration. Their website proudly indicates that they will "satisfy your curiosity," they really aren't kidding.
