the full pour
If you have time for only one beer experience in Copenhagen, you may want to consider making it Warpigs. The BBQ experience alone might be reason enough for any displaced traveler looking for a fix. But, staying true to our theme here, it's all about the beer experience. In case you didn't notice in the photo above, Warpigs is a beautiful marriage of hometown hero Mikkeller and famed Three Floyds of the US. If that sentence alone doesn't motivate you to include this on your Copenhagen bucket list, you may be on the wrong website. The beer selection here will satisfy most hard-to-please hounds, especially if you're into IPAs (New England, West Coast, whatever). Interestingly, you also know you're amongst individuals of good taste when you notice the full offerings from the Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery perched proudly on the counter. But don't get distracted by that Pappy 15 partner, grab that beer you've ordered and head outside to take in the buzzing Meatpacking District vibe. Be sure to get some BBQ for the second round too, you won't be disappointed.
why is this on THL?
Warpigs represents everything that most seasoned beer travelers seek: a unique (and sometimes wonderfully raucous) environment, a diversity of quality craft beer and a truly atypical culture for this part of Europe. You won't find any Danish hygge here, but that is all quickly forgiven as soon as you walk in the door. The beer is brewed locally, there is collaboration with brewers from around the world and you can get a crowler of anything brewed by Warpigs that is featured on tap. Let us all take a moment to be thankful that this amazing place exists. For a glimpse of the culture at full throttle, you may want to visit during the Mikkeller Craft Beer Celebration.
